LAUTECH Graduate (Yahoo Boy) Arrested (SEE FULL CONFESSION)

A graduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Babatunde Fatai, who is about to begin the mandatory national youth service programme, said he posed as a genuine lover to defraud foreign women and men whom he met on dating sites.

Fatai, who has been arrested by the Oyo State Police command for various Internet crimes, including hacking into bank accounts of many people in and outside Nigeria, had once been arrested for robbery and arraigned in court but granted bail.

He was arrested with the sum of N2.4m by men of the command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad in his Ogbomosho hideout. Also in his possession were: a Honda CRV with number plate KWL 280 CN, a Nissan Altima car with number plate KJA 963 CA, a Ford saloon car with number plate KRD 837 DQ and a Toyota Camry saloon car with number plate LSR 418 DJ.

Fatai said he had been in the Internet fraud business for a long time but could not remember how much he had fraudulently collected from his victims.

He said, “It is not easy to do Internet fraud. It takes painstaking effort.

“At times, I would go to dating sites to woo both men and women. I would make sure they fall in love with me by regularly sending love and romantic messages and even calling them until I deceived them into giving me their account details.

“At times, I would send fake emails to bank customers making it look like it emanated from their banks. Then I would ask them to change their password, PIN or other bank account security details.

“They would be required to input the old and new, but as soon as I get the old password, I would use it to hack into their accounts, transfer the money to the person I’m dating abroad, who would later send it to me through another means,” he explained.

LAUTECH Shut Down As Students Protest Robbery Attacks (EYE WItness Report With Photos)

OK.
At about 8:30am i was on my way to school. Something seem strange, it was unusual to see to many people by the gate, just few more steps i could see the why, the School's Main gate has been closed.

I  wanted to really know what was the cause of this immobility.

so i began my questions, Why?

needless to say i had lots of different versions of the story.

I was told one of the raiding thief was caught and he escaped. Some said it was a demostration over the recently increased acceptance fee, well i can't really pick point the matter, as Mr. Solace was just too hot to dialogue with.

I stood at the LAUTECH main gate for about 29min still inquiring then I saw the appearance of the Vice Chancelor himself(Prof. A. S. Gbadegesin) (8:59am).

The VC was on foot, apparently he walked from his lodge (not too far anyway).

I must say that the VC is one smart guy.

The VC stood inquiring why the gates were locked, to my surprise even the VC didn't know the gates were locked?
the VC stood there for some minutes with some of entourage making series of calls with their various flashy smartphones.
After a while he (The VC)  was told that SUG locked all the gates leading into campus because the school authority has been silent over the deplorable state of security within campus and its environs.

Then Just a minute later i saw a charging group of people heading towards the main gate {on the inside}  a little closer and i could identify them to be SUG friends and family. Then came Bakare Solace.

The set of bad guys didn't want any camera(for whatever reason), they came and sang the regular ALUTA mantra and wouldn't give the VC audience. 20min later the VC departed the scene.  4min later the gate was opened and that was a big drama. The time now. 9:23am. Lecture didnot hold.

A source claims if the school management continues to turn a deaf ear a similar demonstration is going to be staged, over and over until the School Authority meet the fundamental social need (Security of Life and property).

Plateau State Approves N200m For 2015 Students Bursary

The Plateau Scholarship Board will spend over N200 million for the payment of bursary to students of the state in 2015.

According to the board’s Acting Executive Secretary, Mrs Julie Wuyep, who made this known when she received the Plateau House of Assembly Committee on Education in Jos on Tuesday, said the money would cover allowances for students in various territory institutions and in aviation colleges.

She said the state government approved the release of N208.7 million for 2015 bursary, adding that N78.9 million was for students in general courses, while is N106 million was for law students.

The executive secretary said that N16 million was approved for French immersion and seven million naira for students in aviation colleges.

Wuyep said N190.4 million had been released for the payment of the backlog of 2014 allowances.

She said the past administration approved the 2014 bursary, but was not able to release the funds.

“As I am talking, students are presently receiving their 2014 allowances,” she said.

Wuyep also advocated an upward review of the bursary of N5000 per student and the prompt payment of allowances so as not to defeat its aim.

The executive secretary said that the previous administration sponsored 25 students spread across the 17 local government areas on maritime programme overseas in 2014.

She enumerated administrative bottlenecks, shortage of vehicles, internet facilities and non-release of overhead cost as some of the challenges facing the board. (NAN)

Miles Morland Writing Scholarships For African Scholars

About Miles Morland Foundation:

Miles Morland set up the foundation which bears his name in 2013, after a career investing in Africa via two companies he created, Blakeney Management and DPI (Development Partners International).

Based in London, the Miles Morland Foundation (MMF) is a UK charity which makes grants in areas reflecting its founder’s interests. The Foundation’s main aim is to support entities in Africa which allow Africans to get their voices better heard. It is particularly interested in supporting African writing and African literature.

About the Miles Morland Writing Scholarships For African Scholars:

Applications are currently ongoing for the Miles Morland Writing Scholarships For African Scholars. This scholarships are worth £18,000 for fiction work and £27,000 for non-fiction work.

The Morland Writing Scholarships for fiction and non-fiction work is open to anyone writing in the English language who was born in Africa or both of whose parents were born in Africa. It can be difficult for writers in the early stages of their career to write and to earn a living outside writing at the same time.

To help fill this need the Miles Morland Foundation (MMF) has established up to three Morland Writing Scholarships every year. In return for this Scholars are asked to pay to the MMF 20% of whatever they subsequently receive from what they write during the period of their Scholarship.

These funds will be used to support other promising writers. The 20% return obligation should be considered a debt of honour rather than a legally binding obligation.

Eligibility Criteria:

The Scholarships will be open to anyone who has been born in Africa or both of whose parents were born in Africa.

To qualify for the Scholarship a candidate must submit a piece of published work, or an excerpt from a piece of published work, of between two and five thousand words to be evaluated by a panel set up by the MMF which will include readers and judges.

The Scholarships will be awarded based on these submissions although the Foundation may also wish to question certain candidates or ask for other work.

The work submitted will be judged purely on literary merit. It is not the purpose of the Scholarships to support academic or scientific research, or works of special interest such as religious or political writings. Submissions or proposals of this nature do not qualify.

There is NO age restriction for applicants.

Scholarship Requirements:

The only condition imposed on the Scholars during the year of their Scholarship is that they must write. They will be asked to submit by e-mail at least 10,000 new words every month until they have finished their book.

The Scholarship will terminate if a Scholar fails to submit the required work on time unless prior authorization has been received.

Eligible Countries / Groups:

Citizens of ANY African country – either BORN in Africa or BOTH PARENTS were born in Africa. Any writer, whether affiliated or not affiliated to any institution, in Africa

Eligible Categories:

The Foundation is happy to support fiction or non-fiction but NOT poetry, plays or screen-play scripts.

The Scholarship is intended for writers who want to write a full-length book of 80,000 words or more. Proposed works can be on any subject though the judges will show preference to works which relate to Africa.

Academic work, medical and scientific research, and works on religious subjects will NOT be considered for an award.

Number Of Scholarships:

Up to three (3) every year

Scholarship Duration:

Grant is paid out monthly over a period of one (1) year. However, the Scholarship will terminate if a Scholar fails to submit the required work on time unless prior authorization has been received.

Scholarship Worth / Value:

Scholars writing fiction will receive a grant of £18,000, paid over the course of twelve months. Scholars writing non-fiction will receive a grant of £27,000, paid over the course of eighteen months.

Each of the winners will be offered the opportunity to be mentored by an established author or publisher who will give help when sought on the progress of their book and comments as to how it succeeds in meeting its objectives.

Application Procedure:

The candidates will be expected to submit a brief description of the work they intend to write (ideally 200 – 500 words). It should be a new work, not a work in progress.

The proposed work must be in English, as must all submissions. Please also tell in fewer than 300 words something about yourself and your background.

Anything in your background suggesting that you have the ability and discipline to write a full-length book will be useful.

All enquiries and submissions relating to the Morland Scholarships should be directed to MMF@milesmorlandfoundation.com.

It is important to visit the official website (link to it is below) to read the FAQ section and for complete information on this grant.

Application Deadline:

The opening date for submissions is 15th June 2015 and the closing date will be 31st October 2015.

Important Information:

Works which relate to Africa are likely to be preferred by the judges.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to supply further details of the proposed work and to clarify their plans for the scholarship year.

The Scholarships will be announced in December 2015 and will run for the whole of calendar 2016. The Trustees reserve the right to vary the terms and requirements of the Scholarships at their discretion. It is not the intention of the MMF to give editorial or publishing advice to Scholars.

They will have to find their own agents and publishers although it is to be hoped that over the years the Morland Scholarships will come to be recognised as an incubator of talent.
